The last short project consists of the creation of a webquest. Good
general discussions about webquests in education should be researched
and read from the following websites. Many have sample webquests in
order to give you ideas in the creation of your own.:

Project Instructions:
Create your own Webquest using either Zunal (http://zunal.com/index.php)--[This plateform is Free for basic usage, which is plenty for this project] or Questgarden (http://webquest.org/index-create.php)--[Questgarden is free for 30 days and you can still access your webquest afterwards].

Each Webquest element listed below should be creative and be based upon your topic that has been developed in the previous two mini-projects using the same group/grade level already established in said projects:
- Introduction and Task (1%)
- Process
- Worksheets, guides & instructions (2%)
- Internet resources such as hyperlinks to web pages as well as appropriate YouTube videos (2%)
- Evaluation & Teacher Page (1%)
- Conclusion and Credits (1%)
- Be creative, design the webquest so that it is appropriate for your grade level and topic, and use the English Language correctly (2%)
- Lesson plan---activities are explained within the lesson plan and filled out correctly. A hard copy is given when the project is presented. (1%)

DeleteWebquests are very interesting for me, in this site you can create different projects that we know for sure our students are going to be very excited to start working on them because in there it is seen that the whole site is dedicated to the students, the creators of the site recommend us to write in second person because students will feel more comfortable and also more interested. It is so nice that the creators of the webquest recommend us or even better explain to us the way we should create our webquest; I have never seen something like that before, for sure I will use webquests in my future classes. The main purpose of webquest is to develop a project in which students have to work on. It gives you the guidelines of the project, the steps and also the evaluation. It did not let us to miss any single part. It has a proper introduction, a developing part and also the concluding part. Also, you have to give credit if you use a source from other website. Webquests are very academic and professional. This useful link contains some of the most creative webquest found on the net, we can use them as a reference for future projects: http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/archives/webquest.shtml
ReplyDeleteGénesis, Karina and Gaby this is the URL for our WebQuest:

WebQuests help our students to develop not only linguistic skills but also personal skills such as problem solving, information processing, and collaboration. This resource can guide our students through the process. They can follow the steps and create a project in collaboration with their classmates. The most important think that we have to take into account when creating a WebQuest is that we have to do tasks in which critical thinking is included. They can give their points of view, be creative, take decisions, among others.
ReplyDeleteThis link http://eduscapes.com/tap/topic4.htm provides information about Webquests such as definitions, how to use it and a long list with different WebQuests. We can take a look to these websites to have a clear idea of how to implement this activity in our classes taking into account our students’ interests, level, age, among other important factors
WebQuests are very interesting and useful tools that can totally change the way in which you give assignments. Personally I did not knew them until very few, but i have come to think that as a future teacher i can really use this tool because it promotes meaningful learning through different instructional design methods, it also motivates the students, and encourages cooperative learning. In the first two minutes of the following video we can see why we should use WebQuests: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuZ949Zi0TY

ReplyDeleteWebQuest are useful tools for teacher. By using this tool teachers are able to reinforce the topics seen in class making the learning process interesting and it helps to engage students in it by activities for having fun. WebQuests promotes meaningful learning and development of the different skills. In the same way, teachers can implement projects for the students in which they can do research about the topics to have more interaction with the innovative and learning tools. Also, it reinforces team work in class, creativity and helps teachers create different tasks for developing critical thinking in the students. http://tommarch.com/writings/ascdwebquests/

WebQuests are very useful for teachers because it is an easy and interesting way in which students can make projects and put into practice what they have learned. The most important part is that they have the steps to fallow which guide students in the process of the project. Teacher should try to use Webquests because of many advantages that you can see in the following link: http://www.thematzats.com/webquests/page2.html . I really liked webquests because they have a guide for the teachers to create it; therefore, I think I will use them in the future as a complement for my class.
ReplyDeleteAs a future professor, I believe that implementing techniques such as WebQuests in our teaching plans not only improves the interest that a student may develop towards a topic we are teaching, but also the interest and desire to participate in the project we are designing for them as a part of the class. WebQuests should be taking more into consideration when planning group activities and projects as it is a tool we need to use more for a better teaching-learning process in and out our classes.

Forum5: Yorleni Vásquez López: Twenty first century has been a decade of many changes and education has not escaped from all of these advancements. Nowadays teachers and students can work collaboratively with people from many countries. WebQuest is an online tool that allows this interaction among learners and educators. WebQuest is an opportunity for students to use their imagination and creativity to research, create and discover lots of information about a given topic. WebQuest is well organized so the project we as teachers design for our students is perfectly explained and divided into steps for students to have a complete guide to successfully create their task. The organization of this online tool is: the Introduction which orients students and captures their attention, the Task that describes the activity`s end product; the Process is the most important part because it explains the strategies students should use to complete the task, the Evaluation displays the criteria teachers will use to evaluate the task, the Conclusion sums up the activity and encourages students to reflect on its process and there is also a Teacher page in which the teacher creator of the WebQuest displays his/her information and presents the credits of the sources used within the creation of the page. We can use WebQuest to assign a final project for students to work in groups, in which they need to do a research about certain topic and expand their creativity using their problem-solving skills, like the one we created http://zunal.com/webquest.php?w=262363, it was for students to create their own Clothing Collection and do a fashion show. The following links provide more information about how to use WebQuest, which are some ideas to create tasks and some WebQuests to inspire us and what are the benefits of using WebQuest in education: http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/tech/tech011.shtml & http://tommarch.com/writings/ascdwebquests/.
ReplyDeleteThis last week, I was reading an email I got from Colypro. After that while reading several Webquests made by americans, I learned that the WebQuest projects are well known along the USA. Then, I realized one more time how important all what you professor Tamatha taught us!! A company was looking for an English teacher to travel from Costa Rica to the USA and viceversa, and now I feel much more comfortable of trying new technological tools on the web than four months ago, all thanks to you who pushed us to keep working and trying each time harder, better... we all tried to give the best on each project without mattering how busy and tired we were/felt...Now I have this feeling/wish of wanting to look for more...I want to keep investigating and trying by my own new teacher adventures in the web!! :) ;) THANK YOU!! :) This is a very nice webquest that would be taken into account by all of us. It is about heroes

This material is very useful to reinforce what has been taught in previous classes. It allows students to expand their knowledge. Plus, the teacher can evaluate either formative or summative what the students have learned. In other words, the teacher can identify the weaknesses of their students. Therefore, the teacher can easily search for resources that can be useful to inspire his work and design a project best suitable to his or her students. In addition, the project if it is possible, can be designed not only to work inside the classroom but to do something outside like helping around the community. In my future teaching work I will start by choosing what topics will allow me to use this tool at its best. However, I would probably implemented in an environmental project since from early ages is important to teach students that they can do something for the planet, starting from their school and, that the school is paying attention to issues like this.

WebQuest is an useful tool that can provide students with different extra materials that they can use to achieved a task assigned within this page. There are many WebQuests available on the net, people can visit and evaluate them as a way to point out the most useful ones. Teachers can look for the ones that fit their classes and students’ needs. Also, it is easy to create one, with the extra information and help that students need and a project to accomplish as the final activity of a term. The Webquest can be implemented for projects that will take much effort for students because within this web site, the teacher can provide students with extra information, as well as the procedures to follow and the evaluation for the project, so students will be guided throughout the task. This web site provides for both students and teachers the tools for creating creative activities that enhance the learning and interaction. The following link provides more information about this tool http://www.thematzats.com/webquests/page2.html

ReplyDeleteA Webquest is a useful tool that can be employed once teachers required to assign projects. So in here students will find the specific steps they should follow in order to complete the project accurately, this tool not only works while learning a language, but also it works for any subject a teacher would like to work on. For instance, a teacher can use a Webquest when an extensive project is due for the end of the term, in here the teacher will post an introduction related to the topic, later the task that students need to complete, then the process or steps to be followed; after that, the teacher establishes the way in which the project will be evaluated, using a rubric for example; and finally, the conclusions or what the students have learned once they accomplished, the task. As a future English teacher I will implement a Webquest for a final project; for instance, one related to searching about weird cultures all over the word, so the students at the end will present their findings. This link http://webquest.weebly.com/why-use-webquests.html shows general information about the reason why teachers should use Webquests in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteCreating a webquest was an interesting experience for me because it is a new way to involve the students in the teaching and learning process, in which they are the protagonist of its creation. The teacher is a guide who provides the requirements and help them in its construction. The webquest is a tool that allows collaborative work. As well through its five stages the students will get more information about the topic under investigation, by providing a background and the attention´s graver, then a brief description of what they are will required to perform and then all the processes and steps to get it. I recommended its use because I am sure that students will enjoy and learn by its use, however, as teachers we always need to consider the selection of the topic according to student´s level.
