(5) And finally one to two ACTIVITY(IES) which may be the Warm-up and/or the Presentation activity(ies) within the lesson plan. It should use the Word project as its base but also shows the use of CALL within a classroom environment.
(3) The FORM is the Grammar that will be taught in order for students to grasp how to use the Function in different situations: i.e. The Simple Present / should, ought to, had better
(4) The LEXICAL is a list of the key vocabulary words students need to know in order to complete the tasks within the lesson plan:(You need at least 10 vocabulary words which your students need to learn before beginning the exercises).
(5) And finally one to two ACTIVITY(IES) which may be the Warm-up and/or the Presentation activity(ies) within the lesson plan. It should use the Word project as its base but also shows the use of CALL within a classroom environment.
This second project is due on September 19th and must be presented to the class on said date. At which time you are to present the lesson plan parts required before presenting your Word project to the class.
The hyperlinks I am more interested in seeing, which is of the most use for you and your students, is when you link an image, word or phrase that will transport the user of your document to another section of your document with further info concerning the said link. For example, if you were to teach numbers, you may choose to hyperlink a picture showing two ducks. Once the student clicks the image, it will transport the user to another page within the document which shows the number "2" and maybe a sentence with it in context..."The two (2) ducks are swimming in a pond."
Create a hyperlink to a location in the current document or Web page
To link to a location in a document or Web page that you created in Word, you must mark the hyperlink location or destination and then add the link to it.
Mark the hyperlink location
You can mark the hyperlink location by using a bookmark (bookmark: A location or selection of text in a file that you name for reference purposes. Bookmarks identify a location within your file that you can later refer or link to.) in Word.Insert a bookmark
In your document, do the following:- Select the text or item to which you want to assign a bookmark, or click where you want to insert a bookmark.
- On the Insert tab, in the Links group, click Bookmark.
- Under Bookmark name, type a name. Bookmark names must begin with a letter and can contain numbers. You can't include spaces in a bookmark name. However, you can use the underscore character to separate words — for example, First_heading.
- Click Add.
Add the link
- Select the text or object that you want to display as the hyperlink.
- Right-click and then click Hyperlink on the shortcut menu.
- Under Link to, click Place in This Document.
- In the list, select the bookmark that you want to link to.
Yorleni Vasquez Lopez: Microsoft Word is without doubts, one of the most commonly used word processing tools by teachers and by most computer’ users. Word is a marvelous tool used for many purposes including the creation of notes, letters, newspapers, journals, memos, reports, tables, charts, smart arts, pictures, drawings, worksheets, lesson plans and many other projects. Something fantastic for teachers and students is that Word offers grammar check or spelling suggestions. Furthermore, Word allows the possibility to revise as many times as necessary before printing or sending the document to someone else; and to reedit a document that has been shared to us, so we can add comments on it or to review spelling or grammar mistakes, for example when we need to check a student’s essay. Some other advantages from including Word in our teaching environment is that it can save us time; for example we can copy and paste information from previous documents, or copy the format. To enhance the document appearance is another advantage; we can change the font, colors, style, size, and many other features of our document. Moreover, Word allow us to share our documents or to work on it with others; for example, when using Google Docs, which is a tool very similar to Word but it is online and many people can be working (creating, editing and sharing) on it at the same time; personally, I strongly recommend Google Docs because it is awesomely useful when you have to work in groups but you don’t have time to meet in a place. Creating word documents, will help us as teachers to include videos, pictures, bookmarks, hyperlinks, word art, colors, transitions, smart art, and many other features to enhance the appearance and therefore, the efficiency of the document, in order to make it more attractive and appealing for our students to like it. The following link illustrates more information about this topic: http://www.education.com/.../impact-word-processing.../, it shows some other advantages from using Word to teach more efficiently.
ReplyDeleteWord Processing tools such as Microsoft Word are one of the basic tools for all teachers. Nowadays almost every student and teacher knows and uses this software. Students can use it to help them do their homeworks and write different kind of things. Teachers use this tool a lot, it helps them to create their plans, handouts, exams, etc. In my future work as a teacher i plan to use it a lot and encourage my students to use it as well. The following video link shows us a basic tutorial on how to use this software.

Working with a word processing tool has more advantages than disadvantages. Especially in education, a word processor is like the right hand of the teacher, most of the material are created in a word processor; our lesson plans, tests, practices, readings, and so on and so forth. Lots of things we can do in a word processor. It is easily to manipule, you can send and receive documents whenever you want and also correct mistakes without wasting other resources. In our daily classes, we can ask students to write a paragraph or an essay about the topic discussed during the class, they can do it at home and send it or do it in class. Also, all the students can create a story to review simple past in a document in google drive in which they can easily modify, add and delete information and have the contribution of all of the students. This link presents ideas that students can do by using a word processing tool: http://www.technokids.com/blog/technology-skills/word-processing-skills-classroom/
ReplyDeleteMany teachers usually say that it is difficult to create engaging materials for their students, since one has to use complicated software or applications; so teachers just download ready- to- use- materials despite the fact that these materials might not fit the students’ proficiency level or special needs. By using a word processing tool such as “Word” by Office, one can create teaching materials suitable for our students; let’s remember that only teachers know what is really suitable for the pupils. Now, is there a smart board in every single high school? The answer is very obvious, NO; however, one can take advantage of the internet and send the practices by e-mail to students. Personally, I don’t think that one can send one this “Word materials” as an extra class work or any other type of evaluation because not all students have access to a computer or to internet. Technology is really interesting and it has a lot of advantages, but we must be realist, in Costa Rica, there are still many poor high schools and homes. But as long as one has the possibility to use, it is worth it and word processing softwares are very useful to start trying it. The following link will take you to an article that discusses the way in which a teacher can teach a language by using Word processing tools and at the same time help students that do not have the access to computers to learn about word processing tools.

Keeping students engaged in the EFL classroom is one of the biggest challenges EFL practiioners encounter. Designing creative, interesting, and personalized materials seem to be one of the tasks teacher hate the most. In Costa Rica eventhough we count on some technology, not every classroom provides teachers and lerarners with the opportunity to have interaction with the learning materials as a smart boards do. Having a word project with hyper links, and all the features word has in order to edit a document provides teachers the possibility to adapt and desing unique materials that eventhough they are simple they can be effective. It is not the material or resources you have available, but how you make use of those you have. If I am given a literature group as the one I had for my practicum, I will defenetly make use of a word project because it will let me have so many activities with the types of poems, rhyming schemes, author´s biographies among others. The following is a short video about how a word project is used to teach rhyming patterns. This one is very simple; however, it does paint a clear picture of how to desing one for yourself. I will add videos, pictures, and practices students could go and do themselves. If a projector is not available in the institution I will be working at, I will try to do it in anyother way, but keeping the hands on motif. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHoD9Uj4X0U
ReplyDeleteFor me, Word Processing is one of the most useful computer programs. We can create many documents and save a lot of information in an easy way. It also provides many tools that help to facilitate our work. We can decide the font, the size, the color, the format, etc. I have used the word processor to encourage my students to do some homework. For example, they look for a picture a comment it in a word document, write a paragraph about a topic, etc. Later they send it to me and I can make the necessary corrections and provide the feedback. Nowadays, we can also use Google Drive in which several people can edit the same document and post some comments on it. It is definitely a fantastic tool that can benefit students, teachers and all the people in general.
ReplyDeleteEven though I really like Word, for doing presentations of the topics or project images, I would definitely use Power Point because it has more appropriate tools for those purposes.

This link proposes some of the advantages that a word processor can provide to the people; in this case, people emerged in the field of education.
For most people the Word Processor is just another tool from Microsoft and almost always it is used in the same old fashion. However, its applicability goes far beyond from what we usually do. So far, this course has helped me realize of another way to put hands on it. Creating this great, good-looking Word Documents totally empowers and enhances part of the teaching in the classroom. Additionally, one is able to pass on this knowledge to students so that we can understand how to use it and become active learners as they interact with the material we can produce for them.
ReplyDeleteCALL is now responsible for my awakening towards the idea of inserting Word documents in a rather nice way for my future students. For instance, it is possible to create a booklet for students, and to make it appealing to them. That is, not only incorporating new vocab and grammar focused charts, but also expanding with audio and images that will help them relate the new topic or areas of interest to their lives.
With the Word Processor the information never goes away. Think about this, the content you write on the whiteboard will fade away eventually. As you need space to teach something new you will probably erase what was a very good explanation about something else; that’s a shame! With this technology the good stuff will endure for as long as your hard drive keeps on running. The material you used before can always be improved and updated and its core will remain as useful as it was in the first place. “Like” to the Word Processor tool!
By the way, Word Processing tools are not confined to the one from Microsoft there are other posibilities you may want to explore since more and more schools are introducing Open Source software. Check this out: http://www.openoffice.org/
Word Processing offers a variety of tools that teachers and students can use to create more interesting and interactive classes. For sure, technology is more common nowadays than in the past as well as the use of Microsoft Word. Therefore, we as teachers have to encourage ourselves to lose the fear of making use of this technologies in our classes. By using word processing we can find many advantages. For instance, we can make a material more quickly and more attractive by using word processing than making it by our hands. It also allows teachers to share material and ideas among them. I will make use of it by designing activities to explain a topic (e.g.;classroom objects) in which students will have the opportunity to interact among themselves. In the following link http://www.ehow.com/facts_5794758_benefits-using-word-processor-classroom_.html it is explained why word processors are a valuable part of technology for teachers and students.
ReplyDeleteIt is evident the importance of Word for the development of different written documents, projects and others. Students and teachers tend to use Word more that other available tools; this is because it is easy to handle and let people develop different tasks since it works as a word processor. This tool has many functions not just as a word processor if not as an interactive document where people can perform different activities. The project of developing a word processing project is really useful in the process of teaching and learning since teachers and students can develop a document with interactive activities such as videos, hyperlinks, sounds, games and others in order to be motivated and engaged in the lessons. As a teacher, it will be an interesting task to assign different topics from the syllabus to the students so that they can develop a word processing project, bring it to class and share it with their classmates. As a result, students can have interactive classes with different activities that make easier the process of teaching and learning. The following video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKp7hSuLIFc mentions some advantages of using word.
ReplyDeleteA significant tool we are accustomed to use is the Word processor, this computer software application has lots of features which make this tool a completely suitable one. Students as well as teachers are employing it because it offers a wide range of indispensable options people can work with. For example, teachers design their tests making use of this application and students do their homework using it, too. Microsoft Office Word has many advantages, such as: grammar and spell checker, there are several templates you can use, also you can save a document and edit it later, and there are different font types, colors and shapes available, among many others. In sum, we as future teachers and current students of English are very familiar with this tool but we can take advantage of it by implementing it thoroughly in our classes. We can create enjoyable and interactive activities, we can add videos, animated pictures and even more. In my case, I use it frequently but once I will be working on an institution I will implement it enormously by creating handouts, summaries, practices, games, etc; similarly I will assign different homework in which my students will make use of this tool. This link: http://people.uncw.edu/ertzbergerj/word_games.html presents some Microsoft Word games and templates that teachers can look at and use in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteThe Word Processing is, undoubtedly, one of the most common tools that teachers use around the word. It is so famous because of the numerous uses it has; nonetheless, we sometimes are not aware of the great quantity of things we can do by using it; therefore, I believe that this project invited us to know more about the “hidden” options we have in Microsoft Word. Teachers are really used to work with it; that is the reason why it is necessary to start researching even more about the different possibilities that if offers.
ReplyDeleteUse of Word Processing in classrooms: I would take advantage of this project to teach diverse topics with their corresponding grammatical structures and vocabulary because it allows teachers to do so; in other words, educators can adapt it depending on what they want to present, and it functions. Since students are used to be taught mainly with power point presentations, it would be nice to surprise them with a new way to teach them using technology.
Link: If you write in google this title: "Using Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Database Software," the first option contains a power point presentation which, in its first eight slides, provides information about general Word Processing features and capabilities, some of its advantages in education, in addition to some findings from research and common mistakes people make when using it.

ReplyDeleteWord Processing offers important tools that make our lives easier when we learn how to use them and take advantage of the vast amount of opportunities to be creative and innovative. These tools could be very useful if we learn how to use them not just for the main purpose they were made of, but also if we have the initiative to explore every single tool they offer. In the educational field, we can start thinking about how we can make use of these tools for teaching. Through Word Processing, teachers may use it not just to write something, but also create their own projects to teach according to their students’ needs and, at the same time, promote students can use it for other purposes different to just write.
ReplyDeletean introduction to Word Processing is found in the following link:

Words processors are really good teaching tools because of the many benefits they bring to the classrooms. By implementing this type of tool with our students we can make them more engaging in the learning process and at the same time if they are motivated the classes are going to be more productive and significant for our students. In my opinion, I would use this type of tool to teach vocabulary and to help students with practices for their tests. The following link has a very clear guide about every single step to follow when creating a word processor http://www.universalteacher.org.uk/resource/wordprocessor.htm
ReplyDeleteMicrosoft office is one of the best tools teachers use in teaching nowadays. We can take advantage of this tool by creating fun activities, handouts, interesting booklets, interactive practices, tests, plans, worksheets and more. It is important to highlight that just using this tool, does not mean that our class will be more interesting and students will be more engaged. However, if we know our students’ interests and know how they learn, we can use word processing as a complement of the learning process. Personally, I mostly use word processing to create handouts to summarize topics so that students have more information to review. Furthermore, I like to create worksheets on Microsoft word to reinforce topics and I must say that these worksheets really help my students. Since handouts work for me I would like you to read this link that has information on handouts in the teaching process and design considerations. http://www.learningandteaching.info/teaching/handouts.htm
ReplyDeleteMicrosoft word is the most common word processor that is used by teachers in these days. It is very useful and it is also an excellent tool to teach. It can be used for many purposes, such as writing letters, creating worksheets, practices, texts, exams, pictures, posters, summaries and so on. Also, we can apply CALL with it because we are able to create projects in which we can use hyperlinks, videos, audios, images, figures, charts, and the like. Also, it can be develop the creativity since there you can find different options to personalize the document or project. Word projects are very effective, it helps students to learn vocabulary and the target contents better, it engages students in the learning process and can work with different skills. The use of visual aid helps students to understand the vocabulary and language effectible. It is a way of change the routine of the traditional teaching to an innovative on in which students interact in the learning process using this useful software. This tool is a way to motivate students, to make the class more interesting and to develop creativity, so it would help them to be more productive and active in the learning process. We can use this tool to teach grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, literature and so on. http://edvista.com/claire/wp.html

Up to the moment I was asked, in this course, to work on a Project by using Word Processing, I had not realized what functions all those many different tabs had. Even if I still have some to work on, I finally understood what many of them were for. Now I learned that it counts with the options to add hyperlinks, which I find very useful for teachers to teach their topics and for students to learn, test, and practice their contents. I also learn how to add color to a whole page.
ReplyDeleteI would use Word Processor for making the English class as well as the topics I´d have to teach, more attractive for students, and easier for them to understand, mostly taking into account that I´d also insert videos.
This link would tell you more about Word Processor´s history.
