  10. In a blog, we as teachers can have a space in which our students can feel confortable looking for information and be always informed of what is happening with the course. Blogs have so many usages. You can use it as a way to let your students know about assignments or you can create an entire blog for a specific topic. For example, if you are working with family members and you want your students to learn them very well, you can add different tabs in your blog that includes different activities so that they can enhance the four skills and learn more vocabulary words and grammar. This link talks about the importance of blogs in education: http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/CUOnline/FacultyResources/additionalResources/Handbook/Documents/Chapter_6.pdf

  11. Blogs are useful tool to teach English Language, especially to implement CALL activities in the learning process. Through blogs teachers can apply reading, listening, writing practices. It could be shown the necessary explanations of the topics at the beginning of each tab of the blog and at the end the practices. Also, teachers could add a tab for help in which students are able to access to dictionaries and useful links to have better understanding of the topics; as well students can write a comment if they have any doubt. Moreover, teacher could provide assignments for the students to work on, encourage them to practice English and share ideas with others. Blogs are interesting learning tool for the students, the can interact with the language and computers and be engage in the different activities, besides when they click for help or practice in this kind of activities, they get more the topics studies. However, teachers must be aware that they have an important role, that students need the guide of them to use these tools. The activities used in blogs are for reinforcing the topics seen in class, not to teach them.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu6ww1UWpik

  12. On the internet one can find hundreds of blogs, they are easy to create and are cost- free. That is why teachers have to take advantage of them and to use them with the class. Nowadays most of the students have internet access and with the bum of smartphones and tablets, students are always “connected”. By using a blog for teaching purposes, teachers are able to provide students with extra materials for further practice, all in only one place. In my personal opinion, this is also engaging for students because, almost never they can have technology and learning integrated. Follow the link below and it will take you to an interesting article about blogs in the EFL/ESL classroom.

  13. We can use blogs as a different way of including technology in our classes. Even though creating a blog consumes time, it can provide to our students a place in which they can comment their opinions or doubts regarding to specific topics. Definitely, it is a good source for creating discussions among students. They can give their opinions regarding to a different topic and develop tolerance regarding to the other classmates’ thoughts. We also can post some useful links for them to improve their English skills.

  14. One of the most frequent complains among teachers is that time is not enough to cover all the topics the Ministry of Education requests. There is always an activity, video, or practice that one cannot cover because time went by. Having a class blog allows practitioners to provide students an online resource where they can go comment, practice, and expand their knowledge. One of the benefits I find is that if I have a blog my students can comment on a given task. Later, I can go and check their answers and know their toughts in depth. There are times I wish I could let my students express themselves as much as they want without worrying about moving on to the next activity. I wish I could listen to them all. I´m glad these sources are now available. The following video is about the benefits of blogging in elementary school from the teachers´ and students´perceptions. Among the benefits metioned we can find: home reading assignments, for parents to keep track of what´s happening in the classroom, and for literature response. Furthermore, it greatly increases learners´motivation through excitement and children love having an audience for their comments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySpKh5GJ3nY

  15. Blogs are tools that we as teachers can use in order to give our students meaningful information. It can be used to give new info and teach a new topic or to review. Blogs give us a lot of option when we are creating them, so it is up to us to do an interesting, efectivy and catchy site. They allow us to include the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), and make exercises for the students. As a future teacher it is very posible that i use a Blog with my students in order to give them more infomation than just the ones we see in classes. The following video shows us 10 different reason of why we should use Blogs in our classrooms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfJETK3am1M

  16. This is a very useful tool for students to use in and out of class. The teacher can provide them with blogs integrating the micro and macro skils around different topics. Actually, when we teach and want to use internet we have to give them clear instructions on which webpages we will visit and which we won`t, thus, the blog is an excelent tool to limit the content and consequently to have a good classroom managment. We can take a look at this sites to learn english http://www.fluentu.com/english/blog/blogs-for-learning-english/

  17. Good teachers are the ones that take advantage of innovative educational tools “out there” and they adapt them to implement them with their students. A good teacher should be a facilitator and advisor. In other words a good teacher is someone willing to guide the students in their process of seeking knowledge and inner self. What does a blog has anything to do with this? The answer requires research about the other blogs that are out there, the way other teachers are using them and the results they are getting. So far the use of blogs are seen as positive ones; in the sense that they foster creativity, individual and group work, they are appeling to students, they are customize so they work according to the needs of a special group of people and they allow teachers to keep an eye on the progress of their students in a role where the teacher is not seen as an enemy or outsider spying on them but actually guiding and reinforcing their work. An example I would like to post here is the use of a poetry blog. I see this type of blog as many other educational blogs as an interesting idea of getting students involved. But the reason why I believe a poetry blog is the one I would implement is because I can see a big necessity for the students to express their feelings and thoughts. I am thinking in adolescents that go through a face in their lives where they don’t feel understood. It might not be the case of every single teenager but being this a critical period, I believe that the use of a poetry blog will help the students not only to express themselves but to use English. Now the only problem will be the access to the internet and the level of English skills the students have. However that is something the teacher will have to take into account before using this tool. Finally, let´s consider that our students as human beings have feelings and emotions and those have to be reinforced too in the same way we reinforce their academic knowledge.

  18. Forum4: Yorleni Vásquez López: An intelligent and good teacher is always trying to be updated; also, is the teacher who is always searching for new strategies to teach and keep his/her students interested in education. One of these useful tools all teachers must become aware of its existence and incredible utility is a blog. There are many ways in which we can use blogs and there are many blog platforms; we can choose the one that better fits our needs. For example: Edublogs, as the name suggests, it is mainly for educational purposes; Blogger is great for any reason: it can be used in education, for personal purposes as a dairy or just to make your voice been heard by others like when sharing experiences or to talk about a topic you are interested in; and finally, Wordpress, that is a blog platform that is mainly used by teachers and students. Furthermore, for me, based on my own experiences, as a future teacher I will be able to create blogs (mainly with blogger) to enhance the learning process of my students, to improve their literacy and knowledge about any topic, to create class discussions, to work on many activities to cover vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking; to provide further assignments or to facilitate feedback and peer evaluation by posting and sharing videos, comments, images, documents, web sites, ideas and exercises, collaborating with others, etc. Moreover, using blogs can save paper! And also blogs can motivate students and help them in case they miss a class or if they want extra practice, so they can have the material at any time when they access to the blog. For example, look at this blog http://healthissuesblogprojectcegrepauyor.blogspot.com/ it has everything to creatively explain the topic of Health Issues covering the four skills, I think it is awesome! The following link explains how to use blogs for educational purposes and how it fosters the education advancement with technology: http://www.glencoe.com/sec/teachingtoday/educationupclose.phtml/47.

  19. The blog is one of the projects I liked the most because it is really complete which means that it can be used for different purposes. By using the blog, you can plan a complete class in which the four skills are incorporated for students to learn and practice. I also think that it is a nice tool to avoid monotony in class since we can include videos, documents, images, comments, among others. The blog offers everything teachers and students need in this 21 century. In addition, it is easy to use and enjoyable due to the many possibilities it provides to ensure a good class.
Use in class: I would definitely use a blog in my class. Actually, I already did it to teach teenagers and adults and the experience was enriching.

  20. I my opinion Blogs are complete and interactive teaching tools because when using them in your classes you make the learning process independent of place of time, so your students can learn in and out the classroom. As a future teacher I would implement these tools in my classes to help students to reinforce and practice previous topics studied in classes, and also to ask for clarification if they did not understand something or have any doubt. The following link contains a video with the top ten reasons to use a blog in the classroom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfJETK3am1M

  21. Nowadays and thanks to new technology as well as many other things we didn’t have ten years ago such as the internet, online videos, interactive flash files and any sort of software that can be used; we (future professors) have in front of us a new whole world of techniques and opportunities to teach students in ways we didn’t imagine. One way to use this new world is by using the Blogs. Thanks to these blogs, students have not only an easier and more interesting interactive way to learn, but also the opportunity to access to them any time they want form any device with internet connection. Thanks to blogs, students are not limited to only learn in the classroom but also any time they want.
